Chintamani Ganesh, Kalamb

20 km from Yavatmal, one of the Ashta Vinayak of Vidarbha, the Chintamani Ganesh, at Kalamb, is unique temple 27-30 feet underground around. It is one of the 21 Kshetras of Ganapati in Maharashtra and is considered to have been constructed in the 7th or 8th Century. Located on the banks of the River Chakravarti, it is said to have been the site where Lord Ganesh blessed Lord Indra, who prayed to Him to get relieved of the curse of Rishi Gautam. Kalamb Ganesh Mandir finds reference in the Ganesh Puran as well as the Skanda and Mudgal Puranas. Once in 12 years, in the Hindu month of Ashwin (Sept-Oct), the water from the Ganesh Kund in front of the idol, begins to rise and partially submerges the idol as per the locals. Grutsmad Rishi who invented cotton performed tapasya here for long time.

Jagdamba Devi Sansthan, Kelapur

Jagdamba Devi temple is on 20 km away from Andhra-Maharashtra border and 65 km from Yavatmal on National Highway No. 7 Hyderabad-Nagpur. It is very pilgrimage place and many devotees from Andhra Pradesh and Vidarbha regularly come here.

Sahastrakund Waterfall

It is situated on the boundary of Marathwada and Vidarbha region 160km from Yavatmal. It is in Umerkhed Tahasil. It is on the Penganga River. There is a beautiful garden on the bank of waterfall. Various types of butterflies attract visitors toward them. Panchmukhi Mahadeo temple is also there to attract pilgrims.

Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary is situated at Pandharkawda Tehsil, 60 km from Yavatmal. It covers an area of around 148.63sq.kms. The place is quite hilly and undulated and thus has different types of vegetation cover that varies with the altitude. The place shelters a wide array of animals that include Tiger, Hyena, Chital, Black Buck, Sambar, Jackal, Wild Boar, Peacock, Monkey, Blue Bull, Wild Cat, Bear and many more. Best Season is April-May. There is a temple of Devi Tipai so the name Tipeshwar.

Mandeo Devasthan, Manpur

It is 950 years old Shivalay 20 km from Yavatmal on Arni Road. It is very old black stone Hemadpanthi temple of Lord Shiva. There is a nice garden too infront of the temple.

Rangnath Swami Temple, Wani:

105km from Yavatmal, this famous ancient temple of Sheshashahi Vishnu. Name is given after the Saint Sri Rangnath Swami who installed it here. This is black stone Hemadpanthi temple. Every year there is big fair for 37 days around Holi festival.

Mahur

Mahurgad is a town and religious place in Nanded district, 77 km from Yavatmal. Mahur has a sacred temple to Renuka Mata, which is considered one of the three and half Shakti Peethas (temples) in the state. A big fair is held here every year on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami. Mahur is the birthplace of Lord Dattatreya. Dattatreya’s parents Atri Rishi and Sati Anasuya Mata lived here. Near Mahur, There is a pious confluence of River Penganga and River Pus at Hiwara Sangam village, Tal. Mahagaon Vidarbha, from where the river flows northward. Penganga River forms a border between Vidarbha and Marathwada. Mahur falls just about 3kms inside Marathwada due to river banks. There are three mountains in Mahur. The first one is having Renuka devi Temple, who is mother of the god Parshuram. Other two are called Datta Shikhar and Atri Anasuya Shikar Temples. Datta Shikhar is highest of all.

Datta Mandir and Sant Istari Maharaj Samadhi Sthan, Kinhi Nandpur

It is 60 km from Yavatmal where lived a great Saint Istari Maharaj. Many people used to come to him. There is Datta Mandir which was conceptualized and constructed by Sant Istari Maharaj. Istari Maharaj is revered by many devotees, mainly from Yavatmal district

Narsimha Temple, Anji, Ghatanji

41 km from Yavatmal, there is a historical temple belongs to Lord Narsimha, which is built in Hemadpanthi architectural style of 12th Century. Image of Lord Narsimha is 1000 years old and installed by King Chandrahas. On Dipawali Dhanatrayodashi there is Kirnotsav festival every year. On Narsimha Jayanti, Dipotsav is arranged and all the villagers light the lamps infront of their houses.

Basariwale Baba, Kalamb

It is 22 km from Yavatmal where Basariwale Baba (Alroza Mastan Shah), a Muslim saint used to stay and was died there. He was born in North India. While wandering he came to Kalamb and settled there. He used to play flute while wandering so people used to call him Basariwale Fakir. He used to say that he had seen Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa at Dakshineshwar. While talking he used to tell short stories of Sri Ramakrishna.

Datta Mandir, Niranjan Mahur, Kalamb

30 km from Yavatmal, this temple of Lord Dattatraya is on the top of hillock. There is Khateshwar Maharaj temple in nearby Jodmoha village.

Goki Dam, Pathrad

22 km from Yavatmal, it is an earth fill and gravity dam on Goki River near Darwha. Irrigation and Water Supply are the primary purposes behind this dam. There is Lakhamai Devi Temple nearby which is worshipped by Banjara Samaj people.

Sita Mata Mandir, Raveri, Ralegaon

48 km from Yavatmal and 7 km from Ralegaon, there is an ancient temple of Goddess Sita Mata. It is said that LavKush were born here in the Valmiki Rishi’s place. It is also believed that when Lord Hanuman came here to release the horse taken by LavKush, Hanuman was tied with creeper plant. The temple has the idol of Hanuman in the same position. There is Ramganga River (Tamasa of Ramayan)

Khateshwar Maharaj, Jodmoha, Kalamb

20 km from Yavatmal, village is well known due to Saint Khateshwar Maharaj who was there during 1800 AD. He belonged to Uttar Pradesh. He used to lecture by sitting on wooden cot (khat) so name Khateshwar Maharaj. Where ever is used to go, he will serve handicapped people and even animals too.

Yelabara Waterfall, Yelabara

32km from Yavatmal, it is a lesser known natural waterfall formed on the Waghadi Dam, an earthen dam. Around 15 minutes of an easy trek along with the river takes you to this beautiful location.

Painganga Wildlife Sanctuary

138 km from Yavatmal. It is a major Sanctuary area of Eastern Maharashtra which represents floral and faunal diversity of the biotic province of Central Plateau of the Deccan Peninsula Zone. It is much more than a refuge for the animals. In this 400 sq.km land of a wildlife sanctuary. An exquisite mixture of southern mixed deciduous forests and dry teak forests shelters a good number of undomesticated animal species like Chinkara, the Black Buck, the Nilgai Sambar, the Four Horned Antelope, Hare, Jackal, Leopard, Fox and much more. Also, a pleasing number of birds can be heard chattering in the sanctuary like Vulture, Bulbul, Dove, Kingfisher, Cuckoo, and much more.
